My goal is to discover gluten-free food in the District to make your gluten-free diet easier.

What I got: The chickpea salad (cherry tomatoes, greens, balsamic dijon vinaigrette, raisins, paprika salt,) is a refreshing, nourishing lunch option. The portions are large, so go hungry.
Gluten-free friendliness: Lunch is limited to salads (sandwiches make up the other half of the menu), but there are four delicious options. Yogurt with granola, a banana and a fig is available if you’re going for breakfast. There are no gluten-free baked goods, unfortunately. (Here’s hoping for a future installment!)
Overall vibe: The wifi password, “baxtercantsee,” is one of many fabulous things about The Blind Dog Cafe. Expect great service with a smile, including the behind-the-counter sing-a-long to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” The comfortable window seats and outdoor seating makes it hard to imagine anyone not enjoying their visit. (Unless decaf coffee is your thing, because those beans do not exist here.)
Gluten-free gut reaction: Going back tomorrow
