What I got: Greek salad (tomato, cucumber, red onion, pepper, feta, olives) with a side of quinoa salad with mushrooms and sesame oil. (I wanted to try more than one item, but the greek salad would be enough food for a meal.) I was happily surprised by the excellent quality of both of these dishes, which have the potential to be unremarkable.
Gluten-free friendliness: As you probably guessed from the name, you’ll find an overwhelming number of sandwiches on the menu. But don’t let that stop you. It’s worth a trip for the gluten-free food that is available. There are three soups and three salads to try as well as multiple marinated vegetable sides.
Overall vibe: G Sandwich Shop is one of four restaurants owned by Chef Mike Isabella. (You might recognize him from season six of Top Chef and Top Chef All-Stars.) Lunchtime provides a laid-back feel. The restaurant perfectly combines casual dining with unique spins on food at an affordable price. At night, the space is transformed into more of an upscale venue with a four-course Italian tasting menu. (The prices also do a quick change.)
Gluten-free gut reaction: Would go back
